Ebb and Flow
…as published by Unquiet Desperation
from my city faint
far fled your ebb and flow
glowing yellow, memories paint
as shadows from a steam-pipe billow
smiling cross the pavement
your sly defiant grin grew
sun strode, hastily haughty, reaching rapids through
the fingers of trees tracking
the movement of memory’s moves
an image your teeth cast
a faraway smile, glowing yellow —
crooked in the morning blast
your sound has ceased as if the sun,
ever anticipated,
chose not to wake
in absence of you
birds confused, cease to commute
muted twilight resonance
the gray glimpse of you wont be
tangible in ways to hurt me
elemental clouds across your image
I will let them be
more than miles more
blue and gone between
